IBM iSeries Modernization
The client is one of the largest privately held property and casualty insurance companies in Florida region of the United States that provide a high quality and low-cost insurance product to the nonstandard automobile insurance market.
The insurer relied on legacy IBM iSeries applications for policy and claims management and DB2 for database storage. The IBM i systems that had long served as a stable operational backbone now needed to transform into a flexible, future-ready platform that could adapt to changing business processes and expansion plans.
The legacy apps were not easily accessible to agents in any location. UI showed frequent green screens. And new users struggled to use the apps due to limited knowledge on IBM i UI, increasing training time. The insurer needed a complete modernization of their IBM i apps that would help them scale fast as their business grew while being flexible to adapt to new processes. They also wanted to reduce onboarding time, lower dependency on specialized legacy skills, and support faster workforce expansion.
To address the above needs, the insurer partnered with Damco who modernized their legacy IBM i–based policy and claims systems. The solution included completely rearchitecting the legacy apps using a modern, scalable, cloud-native architecture, revamping the UI for better user experience, and improving app accessibility for agents. With a strong focus on helping them scale their operations, improve user experiences, and evolve with business processes, Damco’s team provided services tailored to their exact needs.
The modernized platform enabled the insurer to scale operations efficiently, improve workforce productivity, and respond faster to changing market demands, all while maintaining business continuity throughout the transformation.
