With the commitment of contributing towards the welfare of the society, Damco participated in an another noble initiative to alleviate the suffering and pain of cancer patients who are battling the deadly disease. On 28th August 2017, the American Cancer Society organized a 1-day Cincinnati Golf Classic Tournament to raise funds for cancer research and free services for those undergoing a diagnosis. The society also offers community-based, preventative education programs that help reduce cancer risks and increase screening rates.

The event was marked by a great turnout of nearly 250 people representing the local commerce of Cincinnati. This year’s Golf Classic Tournament successfully raised a total of USD $305,000 for the Cancer Society. Damco being the Silver Sponsors of the Event felt highly gratified and treated the fellow participants with dinner.

The American Cancer Society not only raised funds but also honored Chris Hodge, member of the Society’s Trustee Committee, for his contributions to cancer research and aid. Chris had lost his wife due to cancer, and ever since the inaugural event of Cincinnati Golf Classic in 2004, he has been a driving force behind its success.

Chris has greatly helped the society with its mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. The Golf Classic Committee and the American Cancer Society were grateful to Chris for his commitment and passion and thereby decided to celebrate Chris Hodge as the 2017 Cincinnati Golf Classic Honoree.

Other sponsors for this year’s American Cancer Society Cincinnati Golf Classic included Advertising Vehicles, Delta Airlines, CR architecture + design, Heidelberg Distributing, Al. Neyer, Slate, and the likes.
